About agem.

A civic, digital and Portuguese infrastructure for bringing people, services and the future closer together.

A system for what is still disconnected.

agem exists to turn scattered needs into a legible network: finding, requesting, learning, travelling, hosting, helping and belonging without jumping between digital islands. The goal is to create a shared layer for Portugal — practical enough for daily life and open enough to welcome what still has no place.

How it is built.

The ambition is large, but the path must be verifiable: each piece should show its state, its limits and its reason to exist before asking for trust.

  • In the open

We build in public. What is in use is marked as such; what is still a concept stays marked as rehearsal. No screenshots of features that don't exist.

  • Slowly

We'd rather have one thing done well than ten half-built. Each subdomain opens when it's ready, not when a calendar says so.

  • Privacy first

We don't sell data, we don't run ads, and we only keep what we need to reply. What we collect is written down, in plain language, on the privacy page.

  • People at the centre

Everything traded through agem returns to people. The community isn't a metric — it's the reason.

Who stands behind the prototype.

agem is maintained from Barcelos, Portugal, as an independent project in development. While the public team is small and the product is still a prototype, we follow a simple rule: every page should say what exists, what is in rehearsal, and how to reach a responsible person.

From a concrete place to a shared network.

agem starts in Portugal and looks at the whole country: cities, parishes, those who arrive, those who stay, those who make and those who need. Origin gives ground; the platform should give continuity.
